Jordan Spieth records a five-under-par round of 67 to push himself into a one-shot lead going into the final day of the Shell Houston Open.

American Jordan Spieth holds a one-shot lead going into the final day of the Shell Houston Open.

The 21-year-old fired a five-under-par round of 67 on day three of the competition as he holed six birdies to move one shot clear of the chasing pack at 14 under.

Scott Piercy bounced back from his two-over round on day two to record a six-under 66 as he remained mistake free throughout the day to stay just one shot off the pace.

Meanwhile, Johnson Wagner and Austin Cook are also well positioned on 13 under as Wagner also recorded a round of 66, while Cook remained consistent with a two-under 70.

Phil Mickelson had a round to forget as he finished three over for the day to drop into 18th place, six shots off the pace.
