Patrick Reed takes lead at Hyundai Tournament of Champions with strong finish

Patrick Reed shoots six-under-par for his final six holes to take a one-shot lead after the first round of the Hyundai Tournament of Champions in Hawaii.

Defending champion Patrick Reed made four birdies and an eagle in his final six holes to take a one-shot lead at the end of the first round of the Hyundai Tournament of Champions in Hawaii.

Reed's strong finish saw him lead playing partner and world number one Jordan Spieth by one shot in the first PGA Tour event of the year at the Kapalua Plantation Course.

Like Reed, fellow American Spieth had a bogey-free round of seven birdies and he is one clear of a three-way tie for third.

Brandt Snedeker, JB Holmes and Danny Lee are two back on six-under, while Bubba Watson and Rickie Fowler are also in the hunt on four-under.

World number two Jason Day, meanwhile, is a further shot back after a bogey-free 70.
