Graeme McDowell, Matt Every share lead at RBC Heritage

Graeme McDowell and Matt Every lead the RBC Heritage after both shot a five-under-par 66 on day one in South Carolina.

Graeme McDowell and Matt Every both carded a first-round 66 to take a share of the lead on day one of the RBC Heritage.

McDowell got off to a rotten start in South Carolina after bogeying the first as the Northern Irishman bids for a second title on Hilton Head Island.

However, the 2010 US Open champion responded with six birdies over the next 17 holes to finish up on five-under-par, level with Every.

The American would have taken a slender one-stroke lead in Friday's session, but a five on the par-four last scuppered his chances of a bogey-free round.

Sangmoon Bae sits one stroke further back in second, with Kevin Kisner, Scott Langley, Morgan Hoffman, Matt Kuchar - who won it last year - and Cameron Smith in a five-way tie for third on three-under.

England's Ian Poulter is one of 13 players one shot further back on two-under-par.
