Graeme McDowell extends lead in Shanghai

Graeme McDowell builds a three-shot lead at the halfway stage of the World Golf Championship in Shanghai.

Graeme McDowell holds a three-shot lead at the halfway stage of the World Golf Championship in Shanghai on 10-under 134.

The 35-year-old, who was two shots ahead of the chasing pack heading into the second day of play, was able to extend that advantage by recording another five-under this morning.

Two early birdies allowed McDowell to take control, while consecutive birdies on the back nine saw him remain on the front foot.

Closest challenger Ian Poulter birdied four of the last five holes for a 67, while Rickie Fowler and Chris Kirk faded away.

Bubba Watson and Hiroshi Iwata are on six-under 138, meanwhile, with two rounds left to play.
