Dustin Johnson takes overnight lead at Hero World Challenge

Dustin Johnson leads the Hero World Challenge standings after the second round, having capitalised on a poor showing from JB Holmes.

Dustin Johnson has carded a round of 66 to climb above JB Holmes as the clubhouse leader at the Hero World Challenge in the Bahamas.

The American matched his score from Thursday's opening session by dropping just one shot across the 18 holes, that coming on the par-three 12th.

Holmes had a day to forget, meanwhile, slipping down to seventh in the standings after failing to maintain his strong form - a round of 73, which included a triple bogey on the last, all but ruling him out of contention.

The headlines belong to returning 14-time Major winner Tiger Woods, however, who remained bogey-free in the second round to climb into a tie for ninth.

Justin Rose's withdrawal meant that Woods was made to play on his own, but that did not stop him rolling back the years with a hugely encouraging display.

Elsewhere, Hideki Matsuyama remains narrowly off the pace after carding a five-under-par 67, while Matt Kuchar and Louis Oosthuizen are two shots off overnight leader Johnson.
