Jimmy Walker secures Valero Texas Open title

Jimmy Walker holds off a late charge by Jordan Spieth to win the Valero Texas Open.

Jimmy Walker produced a final round of 70 to win the Valero Texas Open in San Antonio by four strokes from Jordan Spieth.

Walker started the day four clear of his 2014 Ryder Cup teammate, but endured a mixed front nine with two birdies and two bogeys as he went out in level-par.

The 36-year-old picked up another shot at the 10th, but gave it back at the 12th as he struggled to reproduce the form of previous rounds.

However, birdies at 16 and 17 made sure that Walker would leave San Antonio with the title.

Spieth was unable to reel in Walker, despite sinking four successive birdies at 14, 15, 16 and 17 to finish on seven-under-par.
