Stephen Gallacher is "very excited" to take part in his first Ryder Cup event, Team Europe teammate Sergio Garcia reveals.

Sergio Garcia has declared that Team Europe teammate Stephen Gallacher is 'willing and ready' to compete in the Ryder Cup.

The in-form 39-year-old was named as one of captain Paul McGinley's three wildcard picks for the event which gets underway at Gleneagles tomorrow.

"Stephen has been great," Garcia is quoted as saying by the Yorkshire Post. "He's obviously very excited about it, not only because he's Scottish, but it's his first Ryder Cup.

"He's played really, really hard this year to be a part of this team, and you can see it in his eyes that he's willing and he's ready."
