Tyrrell takes advantage of favourable conditions at Royal Portrush.

England's Tyrrell Hatton made an early move on the second day of The Open at Royal Portrush as he took advantage of favourable conditions.

With bright skies and less wind than on Thursday the course was a little more accessible and the Ryder Cup star from High Wycombe, after four successive pars, birdied the driveable fifth to move to four under.

That put him one behind overnight leader JB Holmes, one of the morning starters.

He was briefly joined by defending USPGA champion Brooks Koepka after he birdied the par-five fifth from 30 feet but a missed green at the fourth saw him bogey and drop back.

South Africa's Erik Van Rooyen made the biggest move of the early starters with three birdies in his first five holes to join the group on three under.
