Rory McIlroy admits that he is looking to be more consistent ahead of this weekend's Open Championship.

Rory McIlroy has admitted that he wants to be more consistent ahead of this weekend's Open Championship.

The world number two has failed to win a tournament since triumphing in Dubai in November.

"I think the game's like life - you're going to go through highs and you're going to go through lows," the Northern Irishman told reporters. "It's just about trying to work your way out of the lows.

"I haven't played my best golf this year but I've showed signs that it is there. It's just a matter of trying to do that more often."

The Open gets underway at Muirfield on Thursday.
