Sebastian Vettel: 'Mistakes cost me pole position'

Sebastian Vettel blamed mistakes for losing out on pole position to Mark Webber in Abu Dhabi.

Sebastian Vettel believes that he would have secured pole position had he not made mistakes in the final part of qualifying for Sunday's Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

The German – who secured his fourth straight world title with a win in India – had to settle for second place behind his Red Bull teammate Mark Webber.

He told reporters: "We seemed to be able to find a little bit of extra time in Q3 and Mark did a very good lap so congratulations to him.

"I should have done a little bit better and I had a chance to be on pole today with no mistakes. It was a great result for the team and we should have a strong race tomorrow."

The Red Bulls start ahead of the Mercedes duo of Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton for Sunday's day/night race.
