Renault confident over F1 engine reliability

Renault boss Remi Taffin insists that his company's engines will be more reliable during the 2015 F1 season.

Renault boss Remi Taffin is convinced that the supplier will provide engine reliability to boost Red Bull's 2015 title challenge.

The French manufacturer came under fire after its clients struggled to perform in the early part of 2014, and saw Lotus ditch its power units in favour of a deal with Mercedes for this season.

However, Taffin is confident that Renault's new engines will be more reliable during the upcoming campaign.

He is quoted by Crash.net as saying: "We have made lots of changes to the power unit across all areas from last year. We won't go into specifics about each and every part we have changed, but we will arrive in Melbourne with a very different engine to last year.

"In fact, we already had 2015 in mind last year as we ran all parts to the life expected this season. That is, instead of running for the distance demanded by a five-per-year cycle, we tested them based on a four-per-year cycle, or 20 per cent more than required.

"Even though we pushed the parts harder than they needed to go last year, it gave us the starting point for 2015."

The 2015 season gets underway with the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne next month.
