Formula 1 scraps double-points ruling

The FIA announces that Formula 1's controversial double-points ruling will be scrapped from next season.

Formula 1's governing body has announced that the double-points ruling will be scrapped from next season.

The controversial regulation was introduced at the start of the 2014 campaign, causing plenty of disgruntlement from both team officials and drivers.

However, the ruling made little difference at the end of the season as Lewis Hamilton cruised to victory at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix to clinch his second world title.

The calendar for next season features a provisional slot for South Korea, who last hosted a Grand Prix in 2013. China also features on the 21-race schedule, while Bahrain is also due to host a round.

Meanwhile, the virtual safety car system, which was trialled in the wake of Jules Bianchi's crash in Japan, will be enforced permanently as of next season.
