Lewis Hamilton set the fastest time ahead of Mercedes teammate Nico Rosberg in the first practice for the Chinese Grand Prix.
After finishing behind Ferrari in the last race in Malaysia, Mercedes were back to their dominant best as Hamilton produced an impressive display to lead the way with Rosberg.
Ferrari duo Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen finished third and fourth respectively, while Sauber's Felipe Nasr impressed to record the fifth-fastest time.
The early signs looked good for McLaren, but Jenson Button could only register a time worthy of 13th place and Fernando Alonso was 17th fastest.
