Kevin Magnussen hopes to follow in Lewis Hamilton's footsteps

Kevin Magnussen hopes that he can have similar success to Lewis Hamilton at McLaren.

New McLaren driver Kevin Magnussen has admitted that he is hoping to have the same success with the team as their previous rookie Lewis Hamilton achieved.

Magnussen said that he is at the right team as a new driver, as McLaren know what it takes to bring a rookie through to compete at the top of the sport.

"[Hamilton] had great success at McLaren arriving there as a rookie and it is definitely possible to do," Magnussen told Autosport. "I know he worked incredibly hard, and the good thing is that I am in the same team as he was.

"[McLaren] have had a rookie before; they know how to treat a rookie and how to work with a rookie. That is good, a really good thing."

Magnussen will replace former McLaren driver Sergio Perez for 2014.
