Ferrari have used up one of their four allowed exceptions after breaking curfew while working on Fernando Alonso's car ahead of Sunday's Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

The Italian team went over the allotted time, which has been noted by Formula 1, according to technical delegate Jo Bauer.

The Spaniard is the closest challenger to reigning world champion Sebastian Vettel with three races left to go in the calendar.

Alonso currently trails the Red Bull driver by 13 points in the drivers' rankings.
