Wolves yet to offer Crewe Alexandra compensation for Max Clayton

Kenny Jackett reveals that Wolves are yet to agree a compensation fee with Crewe Alexandra for the transfer of young forward Max Clayton.

Wolverhampton Wanderers are yet to offer Crewe Alexandra a compensation package for the transfer of youngster Max Clayton, Wolves boss Kenny Jackett has said.

The forward, who turns 20 on Saturday and has been training with Wolves, is out of contract with Crewe, but they are entitled to a fee because of his age.

"We are interested, definitely and we will be speaking to Crewe," Jackett told Wolves' website. "He has done well in his trial and we will be definitely be speaking to them.

"There's nothing happened yet by way of an offer, we haven't done that yet, but it's safe to say we've been impressed with him.

"We've kept in touch with Crewe and they know he's here anyway, but it's working out exactly where to go with a deal but we have been impressed."

If the two clubs cannot agree on a fee, it will be fixed by a tribunal.

Wolves begin life back in the Championship after a term in League One by hosting Norwich City in their season opener this Sunday.
