Wolverhampton Wanderers interested in another Mexican international?

Wolverhampton Wanderers are reportedly interested in a deal for Raul Jimenez's Mexico teammate Edson Alvarez.

Wolverhampton Wanderers have reportedly expressed interest in bringing Club America defender Edson Alvarez to the Premier League this summer.

The 21-year-old has been a key player for the Liga MX side since breaking into the first team three years ago and can play at centre-back, right-back or in defensive midfield.

According to Mediotempo, Wolves have recently been in contact with America about the possibility of signing the youngster, who has a modest release clause of £8m.

While failing to name Wolves as an interested party, Club America director Santiago Bobas confirmed that there have been enquiries for Alvarez in recent weeks.

"There's been approaches but there has not been an offer," he is quoted as saying. "Obviously I have had meetings with his representative and we are in talks, but a formal offer in which we have an established amount, not yet [decided]."

Should Wolves sign Alvarez, he will link up with Mexico teammate Raul Jimenez, whose 13-goal haul helped the club to finish an impressive seventh place in the Premier League.
