Kenny Jackett: 'Leon Clarke must prove himself'

Wolverhampton Wanderers head coach Kenny Jackett hints that striker Leon Clarke must prove himself to retain his place in the first-team squad at Molineux.

Wolverhampton Wanderers head coach Kenny Jackett is hopeful that Leon Clarke's motivation to succeed at Molineux will result in an improved goal return next season.

Clarke netted just once in 13 appearances for Wolves after rejoining the club from Coventry City in January, and Jackett has hinted that the forward needs to prove himself when selected during the next campaign.

The 52-year-old is quoted by the Express & Star as saying: "He's got a lot to prove coming here, because he hasn't had the opportunities.

"You need a big centre-forward, and someone like him with a goalscoring pedigree, I'm certainly hoping that his best few years are ahead of him and with a point to prove going into this division, like many of my players."

Wolves earned an immediate return to the Championship after winning the League One title last season.
