Wayne Hennessey 'refuses to play' for Wolverhampton Wanderers against Gillingham

Welsh goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey refuses to play for Wolves in their League One clash against Gillingham, with a bid for his services rumoured to be imminent.

Wayne Hennessey has signalled that he wants out of Wolverhampton Wanderers by refusing to play in their League One match with Gillingham on Friday.

The Welsh international goalkeeper has not featured for the Molineux outfit this season and was loaned out to Yeovil Town earlier in the campaign.

He is now back in the Midlands, and was expected to start at the Priestfield Stadium following an injury to first-choice stopper Carl Ikeme, who has completed all but one of the club's 28 matches this term.

However, Wolves manager Kenny Jackett was forced to field 21-year-old Aaron McCarey between the sticks after Hennessey asked not to be included in the squad for the trip to Kent on Thursday.

Speaking to Sky Sports News prior to kickoff, Jackett said that he was "disappointed" by Hennessey's actions and suspects that they may be result of an imminent bid from another team for his services.

Crystal Palace are believed to be interested in the 26-year-old, who has been capped 41 times by Wales.
