Wolverhampton Wanderers announce helicopter flyover for Sir Jack Hayward's funeral

Wolverhampton Wanderers announce that a military Lynx helicopter will fly above Molineux to mark the start of Sir Jack Hayward's funeral service.

Wolverhampton Wanderers have revealed that there will be a flyover above Molineux by a military Lynx helicopter from the 671 Squadron Army Air Corps during tomorrow's service for former owner Sir Jack Hayward.

Life president Hayward passed away at the age of 91 last month and Wolves are expecting a large turnout tomorrow.

The funeral at St Peter's Collegiate Church will be shown on a big screen in Queen Square after the cortege is transported from Molineux to the city centre.

On the flyover, Wolves chief executive officer Jez Moxey told the club website: "Sir Jack served in this very squadron during the War and I would like to thank Major Jonathan Stewart-Davies for his support in arranging that for him.

"The flyover will be a fitting start to proceedings and will signify the departure of the cortege from Molineux at 1.30pm as it makes its way onto Jack Hayward Way, then up Waterloo Road on its way to St Peter's Church."

Hayward owned the club for 17 years and helped them achieve promotion to the Premier League in 2003.
