Aston Villa decide not to extend Marc Albrighton's loan at Wigan Athletic, despite the winger expressing an interest in doing so.

Aston Villa have decided not to extend winger Marc Albrighton's loan at Championship club Wigan Athletic.

The 23-year-old moved to the DW Stadium at the end of last month for 28 days and he will now return to Villa despite expressing an interest in extending his stay with the Latics.

Wigan manager Owen Coyle today confirmed at his press conference ahead of tomorrow night's Europa League tie against Zulte Waregem that Albrighton was heading back to Villa Park.

Coyle may now want to dip into the loan market again to secure a replacement ahead of tomorrow afternoon's 5pm deadline.
