Shaun Maloney will sit out Wigan Athletic's Championship clash against Middlesbrough with a foot injury.

A foot injury has kept Scotland international Shaun Maloney out of Wigan Athletic's home match against Middlesbrough this afternoon.

His absence means that manager Owen Coyle has opted for a two-man strikeforce formed by Grant Holt and Marc-Antoine Fortune.

Meanwhile, experienced defender Jonathan Woodgate has been included for visiting Middlesbrough.

Wigan: Carson; Crainey, Boyce, Barnett, Perch; Beausejour, McArthur, McCarthy, McCann; Holt, Fortune

Middlesbrough: Steele; Friend, Williams, Richardson, Woodgate; Leadbitter, Varga, Whitehead, Adomah; Jutkiewicz, Carayol
