Wigan Athletic's Shaun Maloney misses this afternoon's Championship clash against Blackpool at the DW Stadium after failing to overcome illness.

Wigan Athletic's Shaun Maloney will miss this afternoon's Championship clash against Blackpool at the DW Stadium.

The winger has failed to overcome the illness that saw him miss his team's defeat to Cardiff City in midweek.

Wigan have not won any of their four games this season in all competitions, losing the last three.

Blackpool midfielder Jose Cubero is absent for the Seasiders as he is still awaiting international clearance.

Tom Barkhuizen and Bobby Grant are yet to feature this campaign because of knee injuries, but Gary MacKenzie is on the bench for Jose Riga's outfit.
