Wigan Athletic boss Roberto Martinez reveals that defender Ronnie Stam may have broken his leg in his side's 3-2 defeat to Swansea City.

Wigan Athletic boss Roberto Martinez has revealed that defender Ronnie Stam may have broken his leg in his side's 3-2 defeat to Swansea City.

The Dutchman came on as a second-half substitute but just seconds after his introduction he had to leave the pitch after being involved in a strong challenge.

Martinez told reporters: "We will check Ronnie tomorrow, but it seems it is a broken leg.

"He couldn't put any weight on it, so he will need a scan tomorrow to find out exactly what it is."

Wigan are 18th in the Premier League and are three points adrift of safety with just two games to play this season.
