West Ham United release Alou Diarra, despite the fact that the midfielder had 12 months left to run on his previous deal.

Alou Diarra has had his contract cancelled by West Ham United with immediate effect.

The 32-year-old's deal at Upton Park was not due to expire until next summer.

However, having made just eight appearances in all competitions last term, the Hammers have allowed the former France international to find himself another club.

Diarra, who had a loan spell with Rennes last year, joined West Ham from Marseille back in 2012.
