West Ham United chairman David Gold: 'Slaven Bilic away strategy outstanding'

West Ham United co-chairman David Gold describes Slaven Bilic's away strategy as "outstanding" after wins at Arsenal and Liverpool in the opening month of the season.

West Ham United co-chairman David Gold has described Slaven Bilic's away tactics as "outstanding" after the Hammers won their first two trips of the new Premier League season at Arsenal and Liverpool.

New Hammers boss Bilic led his side to surprise clean-sheet victories at the Emirates and Anfield, but in between were home defeats to Leicester City and Bournemouth.

Gold is confident that the East London side can overcome their wobbles at home and become a more consistent side.

"We have had an intriguing start," Gold told ESPN. "Essentially, the players have not changed over the course of the four matches, and it boils down to the away strategy by Bilic that was outstanding.

"You don't beat Arsenal and Liverpool on their own pitch without a fine strategy. The same players could not adapt to the strategy in the two home matches, but I don't think that will happen again."

The Hammers will be after their first home points of the season on Monday night when they host struggling Newcastle United.
