Andy Carroll hails Teddy Sheringham influence

West Ham striker Andy Carroll credits his goal-laden form to attacking coach Teddy Sheringham's influence.

West Ham United striker Andy Carroll has paid tribute to attacking coach Teddy Sheringham as his purple patch in front of goal continues.

The towering forward bagged a fifth goal in his last eight Premier League outings in Sunday's 3-0 win over Hull City - a tap-in after Enner Valencia's shot was parried by Allan McGregor.

Hammers boss Sam Allardyce welcomed legendary hitman Sheringham into his backroom staff last summer, and Carroll says that his form is indicative of the 48-year-old's influence.

"That's what we've been doing in training with Teddy - a lot of finishing and following up," he told West Ham's official website.

"That is just another one of his sessions which happens, with Enner shooting and me following in and I had a little tap-in.

"I don't normally score many of them, so it was nice to get one! I feel good and five goals in eight games sounds good, so hopefully there is a lot more to come."

Allardyce's side sit seventh in the table, four points adrift of the Champions League qualification places with 16 games to play.
