Sam Allardyce rues injury-hit squad

Sam Allardyce believes that West Ham United would be higher up the table without so many injury problems.

Sam Allardyce has bemoaned the number of injuries that he has had to deal with, but believes that West Ham United can climb up the table once a number of key players return.

West Ham remain in 19th in the Premier League table following a 3-3 home draw with West Bromwich Albion, but Allardyce does not believe that January signings are vital.

"I think the deciding factor [in staying up] will not be what January signings we make, but how quickly our injured players come back," the Hammers manager told BBC Sport.

"If the players missing were fit, we'd have won the game. When you have six, seven players injured, it's too much to cope."

West Ham have not won in the league since the end of November.
