West Bromwich Albion confirm Gareth Barry signing from Everton

West Bromwich Albion confirm the signing of Everton midfielder Gareth Barry on an initial one-year deal for an undisclosed fee.

West Bromwich Albion have announced the signing of Gareth Barry from Everton on an initial one-year deal.

The 36-year-old, who joins for an undisclosed fee, has been part of the Merseyside club since 2014 and started 23 Premier League games last season.

However, the arrival of Davy Klaassen and the expected signing of Gylfi Sigurdsson would have likely pushed Barry down the pecking order.

Barry told the official West Brom website: "I want to come and help the team. That's always been the same for me wherever I have played. I want to help the team improve, work hard and hopefully add quality."

The former England international, who has won 53 caps, is West Brom's fourth signing of the summer, after Jay Rodriguez, Zhang Yuning and Ahmed Hegazi.

Barry has made 628 Premier League appearances in 21 seasons with Aston Villa, Man City and Everton, and needs five more to break Ryan Giggs's all-time record of 632.
