West Bromwich Albion to sack Pepe Mel?

A report suggests that Pepe Mel could be facing the sack, despite only joining the club last month.

West Bromwich Albion could be ready to sack manager Pepe Mel, according to a report.

The former Real Betis coach only took charge at The Hawthorns last month, but the club have gradually slipped into a relegation battle.

Mel is yet to win in six matches since his appointment, and The Mirror claims that some senior players are unhappy with his methods.

Keith Downing and Dean Kiely, who were in caretaker charge after the sacking of Steve Clarke, are reportedly the players' choice to replace the Spaniard if chairman Jeremy Peace decides to act.

Mel could allegedly be given his marching orders if the Baggies lose to Manchester United in their next league encounter, or after the away match against Swansea City.

The Baggies are 17th in the Premier League, one point above the relegation zone.
