Pepe Mel: 'Saido Berahino can be a leader for younger players'

West Bromwich Albion head coach Pepe Mel believes that Saido Berahino can act as a leader to the younger players at the club.

West Bromwich Albion head coach Pepe Mel has claimed that Saido Berahino can become a leader for the younger players at the club.

The Spaniard believes that the impact Berahino has made in the first-team squad this season can inspire members of the academy to impress at the highest level.

"We believe Saido Berahino can go on to to become a very good player in the future," Mel told the club's official website.

"The future of West Bromwich Albion really is the young players – the likes of Liam O'Neil, Donervorn Daniels, Kemar Roofe and Saido.

"I really hope Saido Berahino acts as the leader of this young group of players."

The Baggies host Cardiff City in the Premier League on Saturday.
