West Bromwich Albion manager Steve Clarke says that his team's primary objective remains Premier League survival.

West Bromwich Albion manager Steve Clarke has admitted that his team were not at their best in defeating Southampton 2-0 at The Hawthorns.

Peter Odemwingie's brace helped the Baggies to their fifth win of the season, launching them into fifth place in the Premier League.

Clarke said that West Brom's objective remains survival and that the players must now build on their flying start.

"We spoke before the game about getting back on track," Clarke told Sky Sports News. Tonight wasn't as well as we played this season, but we've got the win we wanted.

"We're focusing on our primary objective, which is making sure the Albion are in the Premier League next season. That's always out first target.

"We've had a good start but now we have to build on that. The more we feel comfortable in the lead, the more objectives we'll set ourselves."

The Scot takes his side to the DW Stadium on Saturday to face Wigan Athletic.
