Victor Anichebe: 'Saido Berahino must stay focused'

Victor Anichebe warns West Brom teammate Saido Berahino to stay grounded following his impressive start to the season.

Victor Anichebe has warned West Bromwich Albion teammate Saido Berahino that he must not get carried away by his impressive start to the season.

The 21-year-old recently earned his first call-up to the England senior squad after scoring six goals in his last eight matches.

Berahino has already been given plenty of praise for his form so far this season, but Anichebe believes that the youngster needs to avoid the "hype" that is currently surrounding him.

"It is very difficult and you can get caught up in the hype but as long as you have good people around you then you should be okay. As much as they're building him up now, if he starts playing badly people will bring him down again," he is quoted as saying by Sky Sports News.

"As soon as you don't have the level of performances you should have you will find it difficult, but he's a good kid and is positive and really believes in himself so I'm sure he'll continue to fulfil his potential."

Berahino recently suggested that he could be forced to leave West Brom in search of Champions League football.
