Watford manager Gianfranco Zola urges his side to not get carried away after a promising start to the season.

Watford boss Gianfranco Zola has urged his side to not get carried away after a positive start to the Championship season.

The Hornets thrashed Bournemouth 6-1 at Vicarage Road yesterday and beat Birmingham City 1-0 on the opening day of the season.

Confidence is high at Watford as they sit at the top of the Championship table, but their manager has said that they must keep their feet firmly on the ground.

"The best of us comes when we push forward, and we need to keep doing that as much as we can," Zola told the Metro.

"It won't be like this every week, though. Everyone has to be calm and keep their feet on the carpet.

"It is a long season and there will be many difficulties but if we stick together on the pitch, and have the crowd vocal and on our side, like they were [yesterday], then we can go far."

Zola arrived at Watford last year and previously managed West Ham United for a two-year spell between 2008 and 2010.
