Joe Ledley insists that Wales are now a different side compared to when they last faced Serbia, but says his team cannot afford to drop points when they meet on Saturday.

Wales midfielder Joe Ledley has admitted that only victory will do for his side this weekend, as they aim to keep afloat in qualifying for the 2018 World Cup.

The Dragons play host to their Group D rivals in Cardiff sitting third in the standings after taking two points from their October double-header against Austria and Georgia.

Ledley was a part of the Wales squad that lost 9-1 to Serbia across their two fixtures in qualifying for the last World Cup, but insists that his side have now proved that they are fully over that humiliation thanks to their run to the semi-finals of this summer's European Championship.

"We know they're a great team, we've played them a few times and lost before," he is quoted as saying by Sky Sports News. "But we've moved on from those results.

"We've proven how well we've adapted from those defeats. We had a fantastic time in the Euros and have shown how far we've come. If we carry on doing what we're doing then hopefully the results will come. But we can't afford to let them get away from us any further.

"They are doing well in the competition at the moment and we're still undefeated, so we need to be on the front foot. The Euros are over now and our concentration is on the World Cup. That's what we've got to aim for, it is down to us to get a result."

Serbia are level with Republic of Ireland at the top of the group, two points in front of Wales and three ahead of Austria.
