Villarreal snatch injury-time winner

Jeremy Perbet scores a 93rd-minute winner against Levante to move Villarreal into sixth place in La Liga.

Villarreal moved ahead of Real Sociedad into sixth place in La Liga after a 93rd-minute winner against Levante from Jeremy Perbet.

After a low-key opening, Villarreal almost opened the scoring through Bruno, but the midfielder couldn't direct his long-range shot on goal.

The best chance of the first half fell to the visitors, though, when Victor Casadesus arrived to meet the ball in the centre of the six-yard box, but the midfielder somehow missed his effort.

Early in the second half, Mario sent a shot wide before Trigueros spooned a free kick high and wide from a promising position.

As time ebbed away, it seemed as though the home side had missed the opportunity to move ahead of Sociedad, but with the last kick of the game, Perbet glanced a header into the far corner, prompting wild celebrations from coach Marcelino Garcia Toral.
