Valencia comfortable in Real Betis win

Valencia beat Real Betis 3-0 at Mestalla this evening with a penalty from Roberto Soldado, an own goal from Paulao and an injury time strike from Jonas.

Valencia have beaten Real Betis 3-0 at Mestalla in La Liga this evening.

Roberto Soldado's 16th minute penalty, Paulao's late own goal and an injury time strike from Jonas were enough to give Ernesto Valverde's side the three points in a match that had few chances.

Soldado bagged goal number 14 of the campaign from the spot when Antonio Amaya was shown a red card after he was adjudged to have fouled the striker as he bore down on goal.

The visitors nearly equalised five minutes after the break when Ruben Castro weaved his way through Los Che's defence before smashing an effort at goal that was well saved by Diego Alves.

The home side went straight up the other end on the counter attack and almost doubled their lead when Sofiane Feghouli was found by Soldado, but the Algerian failed to make good enough contact to trouble the keeper.

With four minutes of normal time left, Paulao sliced into his own net after Sergio Canales centred a dangerous ball into the area, before Brazilian Jonas put the gloss on the result in injury time.
