David de Gea is expected to be unveiled as Manchester United’s new goalkeeper today.
The Atletico Madrid player arrived at the club’s Bridgewater Hospital for a medical yesterday, ahead of signing a deal thought to be worth around £18m.
De Gea is viewed as the successor of Edwin van der Sar, who hung up his boots at the end of last season.
He is expected to join the club when they embark on their five-game US tour in July.
The 20-year-old follows Blackburn’s Phil Jones and Aston Villa’s Ashley Young in Sir Alex Ferguson’s summer signings.
