The John Stones transfer saga could be over after Chelsea reportedly gave up on signing the defender. Reports this morning suggest that they've turned their attentions to Zenit St Petersburg defender Ezequiel Garay.

In Germany, it has emerged that car company Volkswagen attempted to stop Kevin de Bruyne's move to Manchester City, in favour of a move to Bayern Munich. More on that one here.

Norwich City could finally have found the striker they've been looking for all summer, with reports emerging that Dieumerci Mbokani is on the verge of a season-long loan deal.

Now for a trip north of the border, and Inverness Caledonian Thistle manager John Hughes has confirmed that they have rejected Celtic's £500k bid for midfielder Ryan Christie.

Newcastle United striker Papiss Cisse has struggled to secure a regular spot in the club's starting lineup over the last season, resulting in his agent admitting that he could leave the side before the transfer deadline if the right offer is made.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has admitted that he would make more signings before the end of the transfer window. According to reports, one new arrival could be Leicester City winger Riyad Mahrez, who is reportedly being tracked by the Gunners. The Algeria international already has four goals in the Premier League this season.

West Ham United were linked with a move for Juventus striker Simone Zaza earlier in the summer, but it was claimed that the Italian champions pulled out of talks. However, the Italian media is now claiming that the move could be back on after the Hammers made a fresh approach.

Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema continues to be linked with a move to Arsenal, despite insisting that the Bernabeu is his home earlier this week. So, the French international has reiterated that he has no intention of leaving, stating that he plans to win more trophies with the La Liga side.

Celtic defender Virgil van Dijk is expected to join Southampton now that the Scottish champions are no longer involved in the Champions League. According to the latest reports, the Dutchman will cost the Saints £11.5m.

Ashley Williams appears to be staying at Swansea City, despite being heavily linked with Crystal Palace this summer. However, Wales manager Chris Coleman believes that the captain of the national side could play for any side in the Premier League, believing that he has been "overlooked" by some of the bigger teams.

Is Alexandre Pato heading to Spurs? That's the view by the papers, but the player himself says that he wants to stay at Sao Paulo, where he is on loan from Corinthians. More on this here.

Leicester City fans can look away now. We told you that the Foxes were reportedly leading the race for Bayern Munich defender Dante earlier today, but it appears as if the 31-year-old has sealed a move to Wolfsburg after the Bavarians confirmed the move. More in here.

Victor Valdes will not be joining Besiktas after the Manchester United goalkeeper pulled out of a proposed transfer, a new report claims. More on this here.

It hasn't been the greatest first 13 months on Merseyside for Liverpool winger Lazar Markovic, and the club have confirmed that the 21-year-old winger has joined Turkish side Fenerbahce on loan.

Star Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba has been linked with a move away from the Italian champions this summer, but reports in Italy claim that the club would not be willing to let the French international leave for a sum lower than £109m.

Jonny Evans signed a four-year deal at West Bromwich Albion yesterday, and the defender has revealed that former Manchester United teammate Darren Fletcher's influence played a big role in his move to The Hawthorns.

Reports suggest that West Ham United are on the verge of completing a loan deal for Chelsea winger Victor Moses. Hammers boss Slaven Bilic is apparently close to bringing the former Wigan Athletic man to Upton Park ahead of Tuesday's deadline.

Reports suggest that Sunderland are not yet ready to admit defeat in their efforts to re-sign Liverpool striker Fabio Borini. The Black Cats are allegedly in talks over a permanent deal for the Italian worth £8m.
