Summer transfer window 2019 - the key dates

Sports Mole rounds up all of the key dates as clubs prepare to do business in the summer transfer window.

With most of this season's action now done and dusted, clubs are already turning their attentions to next season and prepare to do business in the summer transfer window.

But which deals can be done when? Here, Sports Mole rounds up the key dates in the months ahead.


PREMIER LEAGUE

Clubs in the Premier League - including newly-promoted Norwich City and Sheffield United - can sign players from domestic clubs from 00.01 on Thursday, May 16. Players from abroad cannot sign to Premier League clubs until FIFA's international window opens on Sunday, June 9.

As happened last year, the summer window will close at 5pm on Thursday, August 8 - two days before the new season begins.


CHAMPIONSHIP

Clubs in the EFL have been able to complete domestic transfers since Monday, May 6 - although any sides competing in the playoffs are not permitted to field new players until the season is over. International transfers can go through when FIFA's window opens on Sunday, June 9.

This season the Championship transfer window will close at the same time as the Premier League's - 5pm on Thursday, August 8 - five days after the first matchday of the new season.


LEAGUE ONE AND LEAGUE TWO

Clubs in the EFL have been able to complete domestic transfers since Monday, May 6 - although any sides competing in the playoffs are not permitted to field new players until the season is over. International transfers can go through when FIFA's window opens on Sunday, June 9.

The 48 clubs in League One and League Two will have until the end of August to conclude their transfer business and, although an official date has yet to be confirmed, the most likely date is Monday, September 2 as August 31 falls on a weekend.


SCOTLAND

In Scotland the transfer window opens on Tuesday, June 11 and closes at midnight on Monday, September 2 (evening of Sunday).


SPAIN

Spanish clubs can do transfer business from Tuesday, July 2 until Saturday, August 31.


GERMANY

The German window opens on Monday, July 1 and closes on Saturday, August 31.


ITALY

For Italian sides, deals can be completed between Monday, July 1 and Sunday, August 18 - one week before the new Serie A season starts.


FRANCE

The French window opens on Tuesday, June 11 and closes on Saturday, August 31.
