Ryan Giggs scores the only goal of the half as Team GB head into the break with a 1-0 lead over the United Arab Emirates.

A captain's goal from Ryan Giggs has given Team GB the lead at the break in their second Olympic encounter against the United Arab Emirates at Wembley this evening.

The UAE had long spells in possession during the opening exchanges, but they rarely troubled Jack Butland in the home goal.

Team GB worked their way into the fixture and eventually broke the deadlock in the 16th minute. Craig Bellamy crossed for his fellow Welshman Giggs, who guided a header into the bottom corner of the net.

Stuart Pearce's side began to dominate the match, but they were unable to add to their tally before the half-time whistle.

The closest they came was in the 44th minute when Bellamy cut the ball back for Tom Cleverley, who saw his curling effort hit both posts before being cleared to safety.
