Swansea City captain Ashley Williams hails the character of Bafetimbi Gomis to battle through adversity and end his first season in the Premier League strongly.

Swansea City captain Ashley Williams has praised the form of striker Bafetimbi Gomis following his brace in his side's win over Hull City.

The Frenchman netted the Swans' second and third goals to secure a 3-1 victory over the Tigers at the Liberty Stadium to take his tally to five for the campaign in his debut season in the Premier League.

Williams feels that Gomis has displayed gradual improvement over the course of the season and is delighted to see him earn his just rewards.

He told reporters: "Bafe's shown a lot of character and confidence and it's great for him.

"There was great athleticism for the first one and the confidence he has to chip the second was brilliant. It's great to see.

"He's been getting better and better. He's worked hard when it's been tough for him and I'm pleased he's getting the praise he deserves."

Swansea are eighth in the Premier League, with 46 points from their 31 matches.
