Jonjo Shelvey: 'We desperately needed win'

Jonjo Shelvey says that Swansea City "desperately needed" their 2-0 victory over Fulham tonight.

Jonjo Shelvey has said that Swansea City "desperately needed" their 2-0 victory over Fulham this evening.

The 21-year-old netted the opener and Chico Flores added a second 14 minutes later to secure victory for the Swans, which Shelvey felt was "deserved".

"We desperately needed it," Shelvey told the South Wales Evening Post. "We've not been finishing teams off and scoring goals to win games.

"We've deserved a win, but we've been coming up against top teams. Now we have to play teams who are around us.

"We'll go to West Ham on Saturday with confidence from today."

Shelvey has scored four goals in 21 games for the South Wales team since arriving from Liverpool in the summer.
