Garry Monk focused on "massive" derby

Garry Monk is confident that Swansea City can respond to the uncertainty this week with a win in the South Wales derby on Saturday.

Swansea City head coach Garry Monk has insisted that all the focus at the club is on Saturday's South Wales derby against Cardiff City and not the drama surrounding Michael Laudrup's dismissal this week.

Monk said that the poor form both teams find themselves in makes the derby even bigger than usual, but is confident that the players can get back to winning ways.

"You have seen my thoughts on the derby before," he told BBC Sport. "It's massive. The circumstances make it even bigger but we are focused on the football now.

"We have to keep the city and the fans and everyone at the club together. If we do that, it's all anyone cares about. We will put a bit of the Swansea way back into things."

Laudrup was sacked by Swansea on Tuesday.
