Jordi Amat hoping to retain Swansea City place

Swansea City defender Jordi Amat admits that he hopes to retain his place in his side's defence for their Premier League fixture with Stoke City.

Swansea City defender Jordi Amat has revealed that he enjoyed playing alongside captain Ashley Williams against Kuban Krasnodar on Thursday evening.

Amat lined up with Williams for just the second time as Swansea drew 1-1 with the Russian outfit. While the Spaniard would like to continue their partnership, he has admitted that he is just keen to retain his place in the starting lineup against Stoke City on Sunday.

The 21-year-old told the South Wales Evening Post: "I enjoy playing with Ash — I think that the partnership looked good. The communication is good between us and I would obviously like to keep playing in the team.

"But I am not the manager and I can only play as well as I can when I do play, whether that is with Ash or Chico."

Amat has made 11 appearances for the Swans since his summer arrival from Espanyol.
