Sunderland's Jack Colback "over the moon" with "deserved" derby win

Sunderland midfielder Jack Colback claims that his side's 3-0 derby win at Newcastle United on Saturday was "thoroughly deserved".

Sunderland midfielder Jack Colback has claimed that his side's 3-0 derby win at Newcastle United was "thoroughly deserved".

The Black Cats recorded a third straight victory over their local rivals thanks to goals from Fabio Borini, Adam Johnson and Colback.

"We're over the moon with that. We thoroughly deserved it," Colback told reporters.

"The last two times we've beaten them, showing them we wanted it a bit more and I think that was then case again.

"Adam Johnson has been brilliant, he's won us vital games."

Sunderland have now kept three consecutive clean sheets for the first time this season.
