Dick Advocaat officially offered Sunderland job, will make a decision by Thursday

Dick Advocaat reveals that he has been offered the Sunderland head coach role on a full-time basis, and will make a decision by next Thursday.

Dick Advocaat has revealed that Sunderland have officially offered him the head coach role on a permanent basis.

After the Dutchman guided the Black Cats to Premier League safety with a goalless draw against Arsenal on Wednesday, chairman Ellis Short has reportedly been desperate to keep the manager.

Advocaat replaced Gus Poyet in the second half of the season with Sunderland in a precarious position, and he originally signed on a short-term deal as he planned to retire with his wife at the end of the campaign.

However, Advocaat, who was left fighting back the tears after Sunderland gained that all-important point in midweek, has admitted that he will now consider staying on at the Stadium of Light.

In this afternoon's press conference, Advocaat revealed that he will go on holiday with his family before making a final decision by next Thursday.

Sunderland's last game of the season is away to Premier League champions Chelsea.
