Jonathan Walters hails 'improving' Stoke City

Stoke City will strive to improve next season, striker Jonathan Walters insists after the Potters reach their Premier League-high points total by drawing with Burnley.

Stoke City striker Jonathan Walters has praised the club for setting a new record points total in the Premier League.

Saturday's 0-0 draw at Burnley has moved the Potters on to 51 points and secured them a ninth-place finish this season.

Walters believes that manager Mark Hughes deserves a lot of credit and insists that they will push on to improve next year.

He told Sky Sports News: "All in all it's been a successful season and we go to Liverpool last game of the season where hopefully we can get three points. The manager deserves huge credit as do all the staff and the players as well. For everyone involved it's a great credit because we work so hard and that's what we've done all season.

"We've had some bad injuries and people carrying injuries during the season but we've dug in. We set ourselves targets and we want to improve year-on-year.

"We don't want to stand still. We want to improve again next year. Hopefully we can keep everyone together and bring in players to improve the squad and push forward."

Stoke have been in the Premier League since 2008.
