Mark Hughes praises Jack Butland display

Stoke City boss Mark Hughes hails the performance of goalkeeper Jack Butland in their goalless draw against Burnley at Turf Moor.

Stoke City boss Mark Hughes has praised the form of Jack Butland following his side's goalless draw against Burnley on Saturday.

The 22-year-old started for the third game on the spin in place of Asmir Begovic and produced a series of fine stops to keep the Clarets at bay and earn the Potters a point.

Hughes has admitted that he has been delighted with the development of the goalkeeper during his brief spell between the sticks.

He told the club's official website: "Jack has had three games for us now and he has arguably got better with each match that he has played.

"He kept us in the match at key moments today and for me, that is a sign of somebody that is capable of playing and starring at the highest level.

"That said, Asmir will come back for the last game against Liverpool, and rightly so, because he has been our number one throughout the season. But Jack's development has certainly been enhanced as a consequence of the three matches he has played for us in the Premier League over the past couple of weeks."

Hughes has conceded that reported Manchester United target Begovic could leave Stoke in the summer.
