Stoke City boss Mark Hughes determined to end poor run against Southampton

Stoke City boss Mark Hughes outlines his ambition to end his side's poor run of form on their away trips when they face Southampton.

Stoke City boss Mark Hughes has revealed that he is determined to end his side's poor away record against Southampton.

The Potters have failed to beat the Saints in their last 10 attempts on their trips to the South Coast, a run which stretches back to 1980 and includes seven defeats.

However, Hughes is eyeing the three points from his side's clash at St Mary's Stadium to build on their win over Chelsea last time out.

He told the club's official website: "Our record there isn't great to be perfectly honest and we are aware of that. We have been down there in the past and taken a point, which was decent, but ideally we want to go there this time, perform well and take all three points.

"Our last performance against Chelsea was really good, so confidence wise we can go there full of belief. We will have a real good go against them.

"They have a lot of good individual talents and they are strong on the break. They will analyse our strengths too, and will know that we will pose a significant test to them."

Stoke are 12th in the table ahead of their clash against Ronald Koeman's men tomorrow.
